Features: Pact magic, Otherworldly Patron (Hexblade), Hexblade’s Curse (awesome: short rest recovery, heal yourself, twise chance to crit, bonus to damage — but on the 5th level it'll be much more useful), Hex Warrior (Javelin or another one-handed weapon, and you attack with it using your Cha instead of Str)
Spells: Can trips - Booming Blade (you're going to use it almost every turn), Eldritch Blast (for those times you can't use previous one)
1st - Shield, Hex
Items: Wear shield+weapon
Level 3
Stats: Paladin 1, Warlock 2
Features: Eldritch Invocations: Agonizing Blast, Devil’s Sight (Yes, second Darkvision, but the next level you'll see)
Spells: 1st - Arms of Hadar (for tactical retreat)

Features: Pact Boon - Pact of the Blade (your's choice, but now you can swap one-handed weapon for Greatsword/Maul if you want).
Eldritch Invocations: swap Agonizing Blast for Improved Pact Weapon (you're still Paladin, and Paladins don't use range attacks too often)
Spells: 2nd - Darkness (and now Devil’s Sight is going to be used more often, but be careful of your party members)
Items: Try to get the best heavy armor your DM allow and decide, which weapon you're going to use as a pact weapon further before you reach lvl 5
Level 5
Stats: Paladin 2, Warlock 3, Proficiency bonus +3
Features: Fighting Style - depends on weapon you choose, but not Protection
Spellcasting (hey, more spellslots for Shields, plus 4 spells, which you can prepare each day!)
Divine Smite (Hex Curse on the biggest problem of the encounter, hit-till-crit with Booming Blade, and then use it with your Warlock's spellslot - you'll see what I'm talking about. And if you're lucky enough to hit with Thunderous/Wrathful/Searing Smite spell...)
Spells: 1st - plus four more spells, from which I recommend: Bless, Thunderous Smite (stuck with Booming Blade), Wrathful Smite, Heroism, Divine Favor, Command, Shield of Faith
Cantrips - +1 shot for Eldritch Blast, +1d8 to weapon and secondary damage for Booming Blade

Stats: Paladin 3, Warlock 3
Features: Divine Health (better to have than not to have it)
Sacred Oath - Oath of Vengeance
Channel Divinity: Abjure Enemy (not bad, but the next one is better), Vow of Enmity (Now, with Hex Curse, you have 20% to crit each turn! And the next level will upgrade those chances!)
Spells: 1st - Hunter Mark, Bane, which you can't change, but they don't count as prepared

Stats: Paladin 4,Warlock 3
ASI - Elven accuracy, 18 Cha. Yes, you've waited for this too long, but it worth it! That means you get +1 to your's spells DC, +1 to hit with Eldritch Blast, and +1 for attack and damage with your Pact Weapon (Hex Warrior. And, by the way, Elven Accuracy +Vow of Enmity+Hex Curse=27% to crit Boss with 1 attack)
Features: New Spell Slot!
