I was very disappointed with the customer service at Allstate Insurance. I was assigned to the Bravo agency in south Florida. I initially thought it would be a good match. My original agent helped me to change over from Geico and I thought it would be a good relationship. Unfortunately, that agent moved on and I was given an incompetent agent who told me about a mile wise program that would cut my bill in half because my spouse and I drive so sparingly. I am retired and my spouse works from home. This new agent kept me on the phone for an hour taking all the necessary information, but when it came time to sign, he was unable to complete the transaction. It seemed that for this program, I had to sign online for the new policy to take effect. After several tries, I offered to come into the office to sign, but he said that was not possible. Apparently, all transactions must be done online. He said there was something wrong with my email address. I told him that I had no problems receiving policy and billing information from Allstate via email. He transferred me over to the manager of the office and this manager assured me that everything would be taken care of and I would be able to complete the online application. Well, he didn't get back to me, and I had trouble getting any kind of an answer. Subsequently, I had to keep the more expensive policy for the rest of the next six months of the policy until renewal in March. I tried again in January to sign over to the new money saving mile wise program, but again they claimed that they were unable to complete the application because of my email issues. Shortly after that, I received a billing for the 6 month renewal, which had increased. At that point, I enrolled in Progressive, which was half the cost of Allstate for 6 months, and promptly cancelled the Allstate policy. I have never seen such incompetence in an insurance agency. It seems as if they don't want your business and can't be bothered to service your account after you are locked into another 6 month's premium. My advice: Don't bother with Allstate. You don't want to be in their hands, good or bad. I have a flood insurance with them that I will probably cancel as well.

@Telemachus1947 I simply do not understand Allstate at all.I was issued a refund check and after 2 months they wanted it back.I ended up paying double for one service.I was told that if didn’t ‘t return the check they would report me to a collection and my insurance was canceled.I called and was told not to worry everything was alright. Then I received a 3rd notice for same reason.Now,04/18/22 I was informed that my insurance was canceled ,no reason given.I called and was told that headquarters was reworking everything and not to worry! My agent is Todd Darruah in Greenwood,SC.Very defensive!!!Says all this is my fault!!! This all started the 1st of December,2021.Still going on even todayNow I just found out that Allstate has sold their company to a non insurance company.Feeling really, really bad now!!!

I was a customer with Allstate for several years bundling policies (Home, Auto, & Umbrella). When I attempted to cancel the policy in writing (on the bill itself) and calling but without proof of cancellation (certified or in email) they continued charging me after the expiration date of the policy and referred the issue to a collection agency. Bottom line is you must get a confirmation of cancellation from the agency or risk future charges. The corporate org referred me to the agent and the agent referred me to corporate with neither providing any help other than reach out to the PA State Insurance Department. “STAY AWAY FROM ALLSTATE”

This company is a NIGHTMARE! My house was struck by the storm in houston with over 100 mph winds and my whole fence was blown away. I was without power. My son had a 103 temperature and my dad has stage 4 cancer and he needs oxygen support. I was told I would get additional housing expenses and I was connected with a housing company for hotels since it was 95 degrees. Later on they said my father and son could survive in the heat and they won’t pay for my expenses. They charged me $3600 in May 2024 with an $8000 deductible and counted my fence damage at $2400 when the materials cannot even be bought with that!! They offer me $3000 for the wind and hail damage on my roof and say well that’s below your deductible but you have roof damage so pls get it fixed! I guess that was their way of being nice! My neighbor behind me hardly had any damage and traveler’s insurance paid her 20 grand the next day! And they upgraded her roof!! Allstate are scam artists and I am going to take them to court!! PLS NEVER EVER sign up with Allstate!!!!

This is a horrible place and very dishonest. My car was hit while parked by an Allstate driver. I filed a claim with my insurance, Geico, and asked them to take care of it. Allstate called me and tried to bait me into saying the accident and damage did not actually happen. They are not supposed to call me. They then lied to me and told me that Geico had not given them enough information, which is why they had to call me to process the claim. Again, flat out lies. Do not trust these people, do not talk to them, and shame on you, Allstate. You are horrible people with horrible tactics, trying to hurt honest people.

I used Allstate for over 20 years. I never had a claim for my house, cars, or five rental properties. After they raised my auto insurance by 16 percent—mind you, I never had a claim—I shopped around and found out a couple of things. First, they are way overpriced. Second, the CEO, who earns around $20 million a year, has political views that I do not agree with. So, I switched providers and, as a result, Allstate reported me to the state as if I were unable to pay my bill. Then, agents from Allstate sent me a letter through a collection agency stating I owed them $142, though I'm still unsure for what. So, after paying them over $8,000 a year for 20 years, this is the treatment I receive. My advice is to go elsewhere.

I was rear-ended, and Allstate never followed up with me regarding medical benefits. Yvonne Shaw lacked empathy and basic telephone etiquette. Despite being rear-ended by their customer, I was questioned and informed that I wouldn't be reimbursed for medical expenses until I provided receipts, and even then, they would only cover my co-pays. This is extremely frustrating, as I shouldn't have had to use my personal insurance to pay for medical services.

When I repeatedly asked if there was a specific doctor or location I needed to visit, I got the runaround. When I spoke to Yvonne's supervisor, Jack, I was rudely told that due to the type of accident, they wouldn't cover medical bills and were no longer responsible after 30 days. There was no empathy for my situation, and I was shocked to learn that if you don't have auto insurance, they won't pay anything for your damages. This experience has been incredibly disappointing. Do not go with Allstate; no empathy and terrible customer service.

Rather than trying to help with a claim, they only seemed to search for a reason not to cover my water damage. I have paid Allstate over $100,000 in premiums in the last 20 years, and they won't cover a small claim on water damage that I couldn't even see since it was under the flooring.

I don't know why people still answer questions without being sure of the answer. I called Allstate Insurance this morning, pretending to speak with my agent from Gilbert Suárez's office. First, the guy who answered from the central office— I don't know if that's the correct term—asked me several times why I wanted to speak with my agent. Second, when I tried to explain, he refused to accept my phone number as one form of identification for my policy. Third, he insisted that I owed Allstate a balance because my policy started in January, even though I had already paid the amount due in December.

Then, when I requested to speak with the agent who helped me, he left me waiting on the line indefinitely.

Yesterday, I requested a policy cancellation because my coverage increased, and I was sad because I didn't want to lose those wonderful agents from Gilbert Suárez's office. But now, right after speaking with that guy from the 'central agency or office,' I changed my mind. I hope the supervisor takes this into consideration so that maybe you can improve.

I have to say I don't usually write reviews; however, I have to praise this gentleman publicly! Edward H. at the Clinton Ave Huntsville office is PHENOMENAL! I had an issue with a claim and I feared I would not be reimbursed. Some mistakes were made, and Edward immediately handled it. He was kind, professional, kept me updated, and responded to every question and every email in a timely manner. I can’t say enough about him! I was truly considering switching insurance companies (car and home) for fear this wouldn't be resolved. Edward was amazing; because of HIM, I will remain at Allstate. Thank you, Edward!

My car was totaled while parked. Although the other person stopped and I got their insurance, I decided to go through Allstate, which is my insurance company. At so many levels, this was mishandled. From the call center in India telling me that I couldn't pick up my rental, to my adjuster claiming there was prior damage to my brand new 2023 Toyota, to the five-day rental allotment after they offered me a settlement despite not having the check yet to buy a new car. I must say, I am dissatisfied with Allstate and it's unfortunate that they are allowed to still be in business. Save yourself the headache and either switch or don't get Allstate to begin with.

I am first going to illustrate an example as if it were a house instead of a car. If your house caught fire and the insurance fixed all of the fire damage but left the smoke damage, claiming it wasn't caused by the fire, would you be satisfied with the provider after paying premiums every month? Well, I had no leaks, no oil leaks, no transmission leaks in my Chrysler 300 (rear-wheel drive) until after I collided with a deer, going from 40 miles an hour to a complete stop. All the surface damage was repaired, but they refused to fix the transmission leak and the oil leak, and misled me about the location of the damage. I had a colleague check at work, and he confirmed it was all at the front. I am changing companies today. They didn't want to cover the costs, and I don't have any extra money to fix it myself. I am very disappointed with Allstate. They do not provide satisfactory customer service! I will never return to them—never! Now, I am concerned about driving my car with both transmission and oil leaks because it is causing further damage to my vehicle, yet I still need to commute to work and back. Allstate, you have let me down in an extreme level

My home flooded on December 31, 2023. I filed a claim in January 2024. Allstate had a company called PuroClean remove my floors. It's May 2024 and they still haven't replaced my flooring. They previously offered a third of the cost of the estimates to replace the flooring. When they sent their own company to get estimates, they asked them not to include the closets.

It takes about 30 days, on average, for an insurer to pay out a claim, but this may vary depending on the circ*mstances. To ensure that your claim is handled as quickly as possible, be responsive and detailed when answering any questions your insurance company might have. If your claim is taking too long, you can contact your insurer directly or go to your state's insurance regulator for help.
